Shooting Rules

We want people to be safe. Please follow AGB and HFAC shooting rules at all times.

Arrival and Departure at Season’s Cafe (Outdoor Range)

  • When the café is closed, the car park gates must be kept shut.
  • Drive slowly through the car park, be aware of pedestrians.
  • On dry days park on the grass, behind the waiting line.
  • On very wet days park in the gravelled café area, please leave the closest spots for café customers.
  • Cars are left at owner’s risk.
  • The last person to leave must ensure that the café gates are firmly locked shut.

Club Etiquette

  • Please assist with setting up and packing down club kit, this should be a priority over members dealing with their personal equipment.
  • It is not the responsibility of those arriving early to set up equipment for everyone.
  • When finished shooting please move back beyond the waiting line so line captains can clearly see those still shooting.
  • When finishing with a target it is the shooters responsibility to ensure it is packed away, not to leave it for others to deal with.
  • When shooting sighters on a new distance, ask another archer to watch your shot, this will help to avoid lost arrows.
  • Please take all litter home.

Arrows

  • 100% Carbon arrows are not permitted to be shot on the range.
  • All arrows must be found, this is a matter of safety
  • It benefits all members if lost arrows are found quickly, please assist in searching.
  • If lost arrows cannot be found within five minutes, return to the line and continue searching after the next end.

Please make yourself aware of Archery GB Rule 103, which applies on our range. Failure to follow these rules may negate insurance.

(a) “When any shooting is in progress there must be a minimum of two people present each being a minimum of 18 years of age, one of whom may be a non-archer to act as a lookout. The archer is responsible to inform the lookout of all safety aspects applicable. Where two adult archers are present and shooting together they will alternate on the shooting line so that the non-shooting archer can act as lookout”. (b) “Juniors. When junior archers (ie archers under 18) are shooting individually or in groups they must be supervised by an adult member (excluding honorary members) of Archery GB and a second adult must be present” (c) “On private land which is fenced all round, where the public has no legal right of access and with a warning notice displayed at all entrances and points of access, the following concessions may apply notwithstanding the provisions of 103(a) and (b) above: (i) Solo shooting by senior archers (ie archers 18 and over) is permitted. Any member shooting on their own is doing so at their own risk in respect of personal injuries. (ii) Provided that they are an adult member (excluding honorary members) of Archery GB, one parent/guardian alone may supervise his/her own child(ren)”
